"When you realize that a beautiful interior has very little to do with objects and a whole lot to do with spirit, general well being and upliftment you find the soul of interior design. If you have respect for your surroundings and everything has it's perfect place you interact with your world differently you carry yourself differently. My father used to say that the state of your surroundings is the state of your mind. Look around your home, let your home be the foundation of your aspiration."

Colourful and bold

I just ordered The New Bespoke, interiors by Frank Roop.  I have been smitten with his work for awhile and thought it was about time I pick up a copy of his book.  I am anticipating it's arrival, but in the mean time I wanted to share some eye candy.

What I'm wearing

I am some what of a fashion freak.  I have always loved clothes and from a young age I have been known to dress out of the box.  I particularly remember a little Esprit number that was blue and white with stars all over it.  Not sure anyone else appreciated the look as much as I did!  Since I enjoy shopping and fashion so much I wanted to put myself out there and share an outfit that I have put together every couple weeks in a new feature I'm calling "What I'm wearing." So drum roll please.....this is my first attempt at sharing my love of fashion with all of you!

This is the kind of outfit I wear when meeting with new clients.  It's important to give a good professional first impression.  If you look put together the client will feel assured you will do the same to their space.

Rugs in the bathroom

I love the idea of using a rug instead of a bath mat in the bathroom.  It's another way to bring warmth into a typically cold space that consists of mostly hard edges.  Why use a little postage stamp bath mat that can look grungy and unappealing after awhile. There are so many beautiful dhurrie, natural fiber or persian rugs that would hold up much better over time.  Not only does it add warmth but it's a great way to bring in some pattern and colour to an otherwise neutral space.

On the hunt

I have been busy working on a playroom and it's coming along very slowly to say the least.  I am focused on finding just the right sideboard to house the television with extra storage for things like Wii consoles,  a PVR box and other nasty unattractive things that include lots of cords and unsightly electronics.  I know what I'm looking for but I also don't want to pay huge coin to get it. Fingers crossed I'll find it soon!  Here are some gorgeous examples I found while surfing the net.

Reflecting on 2011

Wow, I can't believe how quickly 2011 came and went and all the exciting things that I experienced this past year.  I have met so many amazing people and  I am truly grateful for all the support and new friendships I have made along the way.  Some of the highlights for me in 2011 included getting my website up and running which has been such a positive step for my business.  As well as being published in BC Home magazine, I mean, what a dream come true!  I have been blessed with so many opportunities and I am looking forward to all the new adventures to come in 2012.  A few things that I will be working on in 2012 are four bathroom renovations that I will document along the way and share with you the ins and outs of how they all come together.  I will also continue to share my living room makeover, yes it's STILL not done but it's getting there!  I am also working on a playroom and turning it into more of a chill out space instead of a toy room now that the kids are getting older.  And last but not least I will be featured in BC Home magazine for a very, very small powder room.  Here's to another exciting year ahead!
